Why I don't get you people at all.

But first of all, a general thank you to all the H/Hrs whose continued denial and anger has brought me so much entertainment over the past few days.

I think I'm pretty up to date; I've read all the rants, visited all the disturbing LJ communities, and generally heard what you had to say about the H/G, H/R developments of the last few weeks. I gather you're not in favor of it.

Huh.

This disfavor seems to be generally predicated on what you feel is a sea change in Hermione's personality. Well, I don't get that, dudes. Her change has been one of the most graceful and gradual in the books- she's growing up. JKR is quoted as saying that Hermione was going to "lighten up" in the later installments, and oddly, I only know this because you used it as an argument to harangue R/Hers.

Right now, though, I'm annoyed with the general sentiment that Hermione has suddenly been shunted aside for the pretty, popular, sporty girl. Hermione's selfless romantic love and dedication to Harry has been stomped upon, and now she will be miserable and heartbroken 4-EVA. Whatever. Here's the part I don't think you seem to get. Hermione doesn't love Harry romantically, either. She's not left out in the cold, pining for her one true love. Their love is demonstrably familial, not romantic. For God sakes, she acts like his yenta in the last two books. And if the books weren't enough evidence for you, JKR has told you there's no tension there...repeatedly told you. Hermione actively promotes his romance with Ginny- can't you make your peace with it too?

Or don't, because it's fun to read your irrational diatribes.
