‘Come on, Aid! It’s not that cold!’ But that wasn’t the reason Aiden didn’t want to go into the sea. He actually loved swimming. He just didn’t love swimming without a shirt. Before he knew it Matt was behind him. ‘Gotcha!’ Matt lifted Aiden and threw him over his shoulders. Holding him tight he ran into the water. ‘MATT! NO! DON’T! STOP IT! PUT ME DOWN!’ Aiden shouted while pouncing on Matt’s back. ‘Put you down? Fine!’ Matt giggled and let Aiden fall into the water. ‘You are paying for this.’ Aiden tried to sound angry but looking at Matt’s face he couldn’t help but smile. ‘See, I knew you would love it.’ Aiden did like the water. It wasn’t cold, and the sun shining on his face made it even better.
‘Take your shirt off, you are in the water!’ Matt said and tried to take off Aiden’s shirt. Aiden flinched back. ‘Get off me.’ ‘What’s wrong?’ ‘Nothing!’ Aiden did sound angry now. ‘Don’t be shy, you have a gorgeous body.’ Matt reached out for him but Aiden backed away. ‘Gorgeous? Fucks sake, you are a guy. Try and act like one, for once!’ Aiden said sharp. Matt’s smile dropped and left without saying a word. Matt tried to get out of the water as quick as possible. Aiden’s words stung, it really hurt him. He never expected that from him. Aiden didn’t know Matt was gay but he didn’t have to say that to him.
Matt made a sandwich for to calm him down. He sat at the kitchen table and stared into the distance. Thinking about everything, he wasn’t even sure about what he was thinking about. He heard the door closing and looked who it was. ‘Matt-’ Aiden was standing in the living room. ‘Don’t Aiden! I don’t need to hear it.’ ‘I’m sorry, okay!’ He said desperately. ‘Yeah. Whatever. Like I said; I don’t need to hear it.’ With that Matt walked towards their bedroom. ‘Will you just wait! Let’s talk about it.’ Rebecca, Katie and the One Direction boys were in the living room as well and stopped talking from the shouting. ‘What’s there to talk about? I just said something.. nice about you and you respond with THAT!? I’m- just leave it, okay?’ Matt shouted and rushed into their bedroom. Aiden turned around and saw Niall shrugging his shoulders. ‘Go talk to him, Aiden.’ Harry said. Aiden nodded and with a deep sigh he walked towards their bedroom.
‘I know you are gay, Matt.’ It was the first thing Aiden said since he came into the room. Matt’s head shot into his direction. ‘How- when- how- what?’ Matt said confused. ‘I am too, Matt. I kind of guessed you were gay as well.’ ‘Then why did you flinch away? Why did you say those things to me?’ Aiden could hear that he really did hurt Matt with what he said before. ‘I’m sorry.’ ‘Don’t just apologize. Why did you react like that?’ ‘Because I’m insecure and stupid.’ Aiden said with a shy smile. ‘I am sorry, Matt. But I got bullied for years, people guessed I was gay and I gained a lot of weight. And now that it finally ended I’m just careful, you know. I don’t want to go through it again.’ Matt got up from his bed and took Aiden in his arms. Holding him tight for the second time that day. ‘You won’t go through it again, and I never want to hurt you.’ ‘Are we okay?’ ‘Yeah, we are.’ They stood there in silence for a few minutes. ‘So you are gay and incredible cute. Want to go out with me?’ Aiden laughed in response. ‘You are gay and gorgeous, can’t say no to that.’ Aiden whispered in his ear, still not letting go of Matt.
