Through the gate redux.

I know it's never good to judge a series on its opening couple of episodes, mainly because they very rarely tend to be the best the show has to offer - but sometimes it's difficult to not judge... I mean, it's human nature innit? And in that sense I'm a bit disappointed that my attempt to re-evaluate Stargate SG-1 (blame the Atlantis cancellation) ( Read more... )

Some time ago I borrowed the first SG-1-season from a friend because I thought I should give it serious go after all those years with randomly zapping in, catching bits here and there and never being too impressed... and I'm still stuck in the middle of the fifth episode. Or was it the sixth? Ah, I don't know...

And yeah... I think I'm quitting for good, it's just no use. Even though he (well, and more people on earth) said that it's not very good in its first season and that the show will pick some time afterwards, I just don't think it's worth my time. I've already seen so many shows in my life which "get good in the second season", but those were at least enjoyable and fun to watch even they weren't in full flight yet. All I see here are stereotyped characters babbling stereotyped dialogue in stereotyped plots from the stack. And of course there's the obligatory "feministic" episode... which wants to be bold and meaningful about the topic but just feels very immature and childish.

And that's how the whole show seems to me... Very childish... and not in a good way.

Ah bla. I won't watch more of it. Life's too short.
