Jeez, I haven't updated this thing for a bit. Whoops. I actually have been busy, which makes a change from not Doing Very Much At All Really, which is bad. But I have been busy...mainly on coursework, which means the five-minute (or so) film I (and assorted others) had to produce for Film and Media Studies. This mainly involved a lot of interesting and exhausting things: running around Bromley, shouting at lorries that kept getting in shot damnit, sitting in someone's living room for all eternity and making poor Toby stand on the edge of a very very high car park. It was fun to do really, but extremely tiring - being creative is such hard work, but at least it means I'll be able to get into university. Hopefully.
Right now the "Sixth Form Ball" (read, prom) is currently going on down somewhere in Bromley and I can't say I care. Chris kept saying I should go, but it involves spending money which I don't have and being in the company of people who I either don't like or am completely indifferent to. "The teachers may get drunk", omg you mean they're real people and everything? What a novelty! Anyway, I've got "The Oscars" to look forward, which is essentially the Academy Awards only smaller, in my school and instead of revolving around Hollywood's finest instead focuses on our AMAZING!!!11 sixth form films. I'm looking forward to it - it'll prove to be a much more worthwhile evening than the potentially shoddy prom thing at any rate.
From what I've seen so far, the films veer from being extremely impressive to absolutely laughable bollocks. They are also mostly very dark, depressing and suicidal (mine is no exception) which laugh in the face of that queer notion known as "comedy". The one that gets the vote of strangest is undoubtedly Josh's which features cocaine, the most random use of the word "cunt" ever committed to film, cracking dialogue ("Why do you think you need counciling?" "I keep seeing demons...green demons." and suicide by towel. All said, it's an absolutely untouchable magnum opus. Once all is done with I hope to upload my masterpiece to the 'net, so beware.
I also got to vote for the first time ever last week and it was a pretty average experience, although at least a decent party got my vote (yay Liberal Democrats!). People who didn't vote piss me off, the kind of people who are just indifferent so long as it doesn't affect them. I honestly think people should HAVE to vote - it's their country after all. Sigh. And as for people who don't vote but then have the fucking gall to dare complain about the state of the country and the government should really just die.
On a more trivial note, both L'Arc~en~Ciel and Plastic Tree's new singles both came out this week and both are absolutely fabulous in their own different ways. The video for Pla's 'sanbika' though is the most boring thing I've ever seen in my life, despite Ryutaro looking exceptionally gorgeous with his large blonde streak in his fringe. Mmm.
I may do a television/anime report later next week depending on the mood, but for now...over and out.
