I done bought a thing.

In a display of uncharacteristic indulgence, I went ahead and dropped an incredibly bargain amount of cash (£99 - that's less than ten quid per season, which is much cheaper than buying them all separately) on the current entirety of Stargate SG-1.

The contents of this box of delights. All ten delicious seasons and the two movies, sitting there resplendent like DVD treasure.

The first two seasons. I miss Daniel's floppy hair so much. Also, I love the fact that season one is saddled forever with an '18' rating because of that baffling bit of full-frontal nudity in Children of the Gods, meaning that the entire fucking set is rated '18' by proxy. Good going Showtime!

Seasons three and four. Nice purple aside, season three quite clearly has the most rotten cover image of the lot. I wonder what they're looking at? Maybe General Hammond doing an impromptu puppet show?

Season five and The Season With Jonas, which is where I currently am in my viewing. Of course now I can watch it on DVD on my telly, as opposed to slightly grainy AVIs on my laptop. I like Jonas, incidentally - if you want to set at my guts with a blunt spoon then I'll understand.

Seasons seven and eight, where the Goa'uld storyline wraps up, the original team gets broken up forever and Teal'c finally gets some hair.

The final two seasons, where John Crichton takes over as leader of SG-1. This is going to be profoundly strange to watch on a number of levels when I get there, but I'm actually rather looking forward to it.

The two movies! That Ark of Truth cover just isn't kind to Christopher Judge and Claudia Black, is it? Still, at least I've got a "thrilling feature-length film!" to look forward to! I have undying love for the Continuum cover, though. Is it not gorgeous? And no, I have no idea why this picture is a different colour to the rest.

I am prone to extravagance from time to time, but really, the only way I could afford this was being super-frugal with my money over the summer. Go me! Now all I need is the Children of the Gods Final Cut and Atlantis season five and I can build a kind of fort out of Stargate DVDs for my cat.
