Congratulations to R.E.M. on being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last night. You guys rock! A couple of things about them last night:
I loved Eddie Vedder’s induction speech. That was a tribute by a true fan that other fans could really appreciate.
It was so nice to see Bill Berry back up on stage with them even if it was just for one night.
Mike was adorable as always, kudos for remembering to thank Bertis!
Michael was charming last night. He can be so hit or miss sometimes.
Peter Buck, all I can say is, "grow the fuck up!" Seriously people, that was so not cool. To quote ‘The Simpsons’ episode they did “That is not the R.E.M. way!” If anyone comes across any articles that hint on what bug crawled up his ass last night, please pass them my way. I’m thinking it was sound issues, but him drinking up on stage leads me to think worse things.
Hey Robbie, I only got one right. I predicted they would do Radio Free Europe, Man on the Moon and maybe Losing my Religion. They did: Begin the Begin, Gardening at Night and Man on the Moon. Gardening at Night? I wasn’t expecting that at all, that was even better then thinking Radio Free Europe. =)
On another note, they recorded (with Bill!) a cover of John Lennon’s #9 Dream for an Amnesty International Benefit Album called “Instant Karma: The Campaign to Save Darfur.” The album comes out in June, but the single is available now on iTunes. It’s good.
