Well I figured I'd update about my little trip to Nashville. I've only been here three days, and it couldn't be more eventful.
I got in Monday afternnon and went straight to the CMA. God, I missed those people. Afterwards, Mallory and I went to get dinner followed by a random stop at Leanne's apartment. And the itching begins...
By the time I got to Becca's BIG ASS HOUSE I had discovered my stomach, chest, and thighs were covered in a nasty red rash. My initial thought was that I was having an allergic reaction to my mom's new laundry detergent. I changed clothes, had a Pink Lemonberry, and went to bed.
When I woke up Tuesday morning... (ahem, got up, since I barely slept due to itching) I noticed my eyelids felt funny. When I looked in the mirror I noticed my right eyelid was swollen half-shut. Also the rash had begun spreading to my arms.
I called my mom seeking advice. She was of no help. I sat around for two hours waiting for her to tell me what I should do. She told me to get Benadryl tablets and cream. I tried putting in a couple hours at the CMA only to leave because the Benadryl made me loopy. I came back to Becca's and slept for like 4 hours.
When I woke up from my nap, the rash on my stomach was better, but I had major swelling in the joints of my ankles and fingers. I was really weak, and felt like shit in general. That's when people began trying to diagnose me. I heard measles, mumps, meningitis, and few others I forgot. We went to go see Andy play, but I wasn't doing so well so we left.
When I woke up this morning, I could barely walk becase of joint pain, and the rash had spread to my arms, legs, and neck. I also had absolutly no energy. I was so weak it took me forever to get up and down the stairs. I finally convinced my mother that maybe I should seek professional help. I called in to the CMA and headed down to Baptist Hospital.
The doctor looked dumb-founded when he saw the bumps. He said there was no logical pattern and wanted to do some blood work to find a cause. Three blood tests and 4 hours later, there was still no answer. But they had two guesses...
One theory was that I still had antibodies from my cold 3 weeks ago. The antibodies may have deposited themselves under my skin and in my joints. Let's hope they're right on that one...
The second theory is that I am in the early stages of lupus. After checking WebMD,"A person with 4 of these 11 conditions will likely be diagnosed with lupus; 3 suggest that lupus is probably present; and 2 raise the possibility of the disease." I currently have 3 of the symptoms.
The ER gave me a steroid shot to reduce swelling in my joints and a couple other prescriptions to get rid of the rash. The shot has already helped tremendously, but if I'm not back to 100% by Monday, I'm supposed to go back to the doctor on Monday to have more tests done for lupus.
And that has been my week thus far. Yes, it has sucked ass, but the doctors thought I'd be okay for the Festival this weekend. It starts bright and early tomorrow morning. I hope that the shot lasts through the weekend, or better yet, cleared up whatever was wrong.
I will everyone updated. If my leg falls off, I promise that I'll post about it as soon as possible.
