On this day 2 years ago, John and I were on our way to the Grand Canyon. We Departed from Phoenix. I have been to the grand canyon as a kid, but never appriciated it. I remember getting there, and just thinking how cool it was experiancing it with John, this was a first for him, and I really dont remember it. We studied the maps and decided where we wanted to be for sunset. The destination-Hopi Point. We had to take to buses/trams. And we had to get on the quick. I bought extra film at their little store to take pics of all the cool things.
So we get there and we have about 20 minutes before sunset.
We find a cliff we park ourselves, and realize there is an ant hill. that wont work. we move abou 10 feet. Just perfect.
What a completly breathtaking experiance. I have never quite seen anything so amazing. pictures dont do this justice!
So John goes into his backpack and im not even paying attention, and he pulls something out, and kinda kneels as much as possible. (the wind was very intense at this point, and if your footing wasnt right, you might fall to your death) And he says Heidi you mean the world to me, I love you with all my heart, I want to know if you will spend the rest of your life with me. Im so overwhelmed with emotions, Im trying to think of something funny to say.... and then he gives me this look like....ANSWER ME!!!
I said YES, YES, YES, YES, ILL MARRY YOU!!!!!!
and we both hugged I bawled.
some info about the grand canyon, you cannot get into any of the resteraunts unless you have pretty mych a 6 month standing reservation (im pretty much sure its the same for the hotels)
the bartenders are crabby and dont care if you just got engaged, or are dying.
We went to the town of Williams and the people were so hospitapal they gave us free champagne to celebrate.
