However this story drew me in. It really made me understand why Logan was willing to put up with so much from Veronica and why he was so willing to change to be with her. This makes me a happy bunny since I wanted that to come across. So much of how Logan interacts with everyone around him (everything from his loyalty to Dick to his tendency to sometimes push and attack to get a reaction to how he'll always cling too desperately to Veronica even when it hurts him) can be traced straight back to what he's experienced in his life and as ugly as some of his reactions to tragic things have been, they all fit how he's been raised which is a pretty amazing feat since I don't see that kind of follow-through very often when it comes to the personality effects of this kind of abuse. So as much as he frustrates me, I'm still fascinated.
Because it all fits, you know?
Are Shane, Rebecca, etc. from another series? Shane is, indeed, from The L Word, a so-called lesbian drama on Showtime (suffice it to say, it is less than impressive beyond a few amazing characters), which I can only stomach to watch the varied adventures of Shane McCutcheon and her best friend, Alice Pieszecki because while the acting is great and the potential is astounding, the writing is... not impressive. So Shane's from there, along with her only mentioned uncle Bill who's apparently been carted off to a hospital at some point by his kids according to Shane. Rebecca is a name I've attached to Shane's mother, who's been mentioned only on the base level but given no further definition. As for Shane, the basics are as follows - gay extremely androgynous hairdresser living out in West Hollywood with her friends who has a ton of emotional issues that she avoids working through. We know that she was abandoned by drug addict mom when she was around nine, that she had some pretty ugly foster homes before she finally ran away and lived on the streets for a few years doing some pretty awful things to survive because she refused to go back to any of the homes she'd been living in. Like everything else on The L Word, the stellar acting gives us all we get in backstory beyond that since Ilene is a hack who couldn't give us meaningful character development if her life depended on it. Shane took her father's name even though he ran out on them and we don't have her mother's maiden name, which is how this whole cracked idea started.
Because there's a whole story there.
And because sometimes, when Kate Moennig (Shane) does this look, there's this freaky resemblence to Lisa Rinna.
I read this a long time ago (came for the heroes fic, found out you were genius when i saw this crossover), and I loved it then, and I love it now. Just this slow painful slide into Lynn's crappy ending, and how overwhelmed she felt, and it's fantastic (in the way that clearly indicates i need therapy). And to top it all off, there's Shane! and possibly bonus Alice and Dana! I'm not sure if you're still playing in this 'verse or not, but you totally should.
I know it's a crazy idea but once this idea popped into my head, I became obsessed with it and, yes, I am indeed playing in this universe - it isn't ready to be posted yet but it has an entire fic, starting at the end of S1, going through an AU!S2 and ending in a sort-of, kind-of but not-really AU S3. Basically, Logan and Shane become the most awesome cousin duo ever and have to deal with the crazy Echolls aftermath of Aaron's arrest Alice comes in and basically PWNs the universe and the others pop up throughout the fic (Dana repeatedly) while there's a trial and a murder and a lots of romantic entanglements.
Because Logan needs a damn family and Shane would be good for him and they'd end up being really good for each other as they dealt with all their incredibly sucky childhood issues.
Plus, Logan eventually taken in by a big gay family is just... fun to write, believe me, :D
(and Logan and Dana getting high on brownies is also extremely fun to write)

It's amazing if slightly jarring.
