There's a knock at Meg's door, brisk and solid, followed by the slight creak of hinges as it opens.
And a moment later --
"Meg."
Michael's voice doesn't fill the room, but it carries a certain weight with it nonetheless.

She sits up at the sound of the knock.
And she stands up, when Michael comes into the room.
(It just . . . seems the thing to do.)
"Hello, Michael."

"Feel free to sit," the archangel offers, stepping farther into the room before closing the door.
She takes up a position by the wall, leaning against it while she studies Meg.
"I didn't mean to wake you."

Meg sits on the edge of the bed, feet on the floor and shoulders squared.
"You didn't. I wasn't asleep."
