WHY DO YOU DO THIS TO ME?
(Elena Gilbert has always been perfectly ordinary; this is the necessary punchline to this grand cosmic joke.)
Ouch.
Her brother is her one stubborn tie to life, which means she's duty-bound to hold on. She knows this is punishment rather than salvation, because she doesn't deserve it.
Oh, hurt me so much. Sorta put a new spin on 'sorry that you've lost so many people'. With every person who dies, Elena is more responsible for him, is less able to die herself.
Stefan is a monster, and that's why she knows she belongs with him.
PERFECTION.
Matt can have that girl. Elena never wants to see her again.
Stunning. You are incredible for tying that bit together.
This is why she carves up her own heart, sorts the parts like dirty laundry. Everyone gets a piece. She keeps her boyfriend's brother in an unlit room, apart from everyone else, but only so there's no confusion. She lets him stay there, along with all of the anger, hate, grief, waste, and any unbidden feeling she hasn't yet been able to filter out of her system.
I DO NOT HAVE WORDS.
Ridiculous flail-filled comment is ridiculous. Carry-on.
