Whatever, losers. I love musicals, and if you don't, I have nothing to say to you!

*raspberry*

Let's talk about SMG being gorgeous and her awesome, awesome outfit. Because I never get tired of that. Trench coats are sexy, okay? So is red, which is, incidentally, my favorite color. AND SHE AND SPIKE ARE COLOR-COORDINATED, OKAY?

Also I love all the things that you love. “Fool for Love” is my favorite episode, but yeah, this one’s probably second. WHY SO PRECARIOUSLY PERFECT, SHOW?

I LIKE YOUR APPROACH.

TRENCH COATS ARE BAD-ASS. YES.

AND SHE AND SPIKE ARE COLOR-COORDINATED, OKAY?

I KNOW RIGHT??!!! OTP.

Ahhh, FFL is also perfect. Along with those other perfect episodes. THIS SHOW. ♥

Can we talk about Spike's red shirt? Because we first see that outfit in s2, "What's My Line", I think, and then he's wearing it again and I'm like OH I SEE YOU. I should track its appearances. Creature of costume, this boy, and I think it's interesting that the places I know of it are these big romantic turnpoints-both of which lead to some serious tonal shifts in said romances.

WHATEVER, MY LIFE IS OTP DOUBLING.

PS: FOOOOOOOOOOOOOL FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE.

I LOVE TRACKING HIS LOOKS/COSTUMES/MASKS. SO MUCH FUN. THAT WOULD BE THE ULTIMATE GRAPHIC META.

GREATEST EPISODE EVER EVER EVER! I HAVE IT MEMORIZED.

Oh man, VERY good point about the red shirt. It really sticks out in that period. I have no doubt that's what it was about.

Fool For Love is indeed worthy of all those adjectives and if OMWF didn't exist, that would come top. *nod*

He's also wearing it in Lovers Walk so your theory holds. Though haha I feel like Spike's entire life is one constant serious tonal shift in said romances.

ICON WHEN HE STRIPS OFF THE COSTUME. DIDN'T WORK.

YES, BLESS YOUR OBSERVANT SPIKE STAN HEART.

You want to talk costume changes not working? One word: "Crush". Comfy-sweater!Spike is the creepiest thing I have ever damn seen; at the Bronze he looks like he raided Xander's wardrobe and then later he's wearing combat trousers and a sweater that we have literally seen on Riley. I can't. He has no idea what he's doing/who he is, so he tries to remake himself out of pieces of her life without her agench and aghaghagh. I CAN'T.

That episode. (On a purely personal level, that might be my favorite-after OMWF + FFL, no competition. Only episode I ever talk about? Pretty much; it's like the linchpin of all my meta/thoughts, and is a GIANT OTPFEST, ANYONE WHO SAYS OTHERWISE IS SELLIN' SOMETHING.)

He's just so adorably pathetic and he's trying so hard.

WHY DO YOU BITCHES TORTURE HIM?

hahahahahaha oh spike. i don't know why he can get away with that. it doesn't bother me tho. because they're so clearly not torturing him. he's torturing himself and it's hilarious because he doesn't even really blame them. maybe that's why it's ok? it's like even as they're torturing him (he's torturing himself through them) he loves it. this is who he is. this is who he wants to be. he doesn't know another way. he wants to be the lady's knight, not the king's knight.

Okay, am I going off on a weird tangent in thinking about Angel and Spike in Arthurian legend terms? Angel wants to be Arthur. Spike wants to be Lancelot. OH HAI ARTHUR I'M FALLING FOR AND SEDUCING BUFFY WHILE YOU'RE OFF FIGHTING DRAGONS. BUT DAMMIT WAIT I ALSO WANT TO FIGHT DRAGONS.

THAT LINE MAKES ME CACKLE OUT LOUD, EVERY TIME-and you know why, because this is the episode that is overtly Not About ~Them~. It's literally just 42 minutes of Spike having a giant-ass identity crisis.

PERSONALLY, I KIND OF WANT TO SLAY THE DRAGON. LET'S GO TO WORK.

Yep. This is why I've never been remotely disturbed by his behaviour in that episode. He's all talk. And projecting his ~ish. The best example would be his bluff to sic Dru on Buffy - but when Dru is actually attacking Buffy, what does he do? Help Buffy get free. lol, Spike.
