He never lets her grow up and he never lets her leave. All the fucked up everything I love it so much.

They are adorable with their "I hate you more!" and their "no one is allowed to pick on her but me" and their "NO ONE UNDERSTANDS ME BUT YOU" and their "go away NO BUT REALLY I NEED YOU DON'T LEAVE but if you stay I will be bitter" and the occasional "I see you are suffering, so here is a witty retort but I'm totally going to pull your ass out of the fire if I see that you need help later" it's basically the most precious show in the universe. I wrote Elena as Bluebeard's wife in this piece last year (which you read, but may have more of an impact now that you know the story) and am still in love with it.
Also - Angela Carter's The Bloody Chamber is by and far the best modern adaptation of Bluebeard to exist ever ever ever. (plus she's boss)

Hart of Dixie is like what Mystic Falls could be... without vampires... and once everyone is in their early-30's and realizing that there's no such thing as a fairy tale. Lemon Breeland is the Caroline Forbes of her Southern town - only all grown up and having to deal with the possibility that she can be more than a Southern-Belle if she wants to. Which is really, really hard. And so she cries a lot. And she schemes. And she's still HBIC no matter how many times her town sees her fall.
Basically she is perfect. And yes, you need her in your life, ruining everything and being flawless.
