This week's been the first in the UAS (University of Applied Sciences), and while the sheer amount of new information and general confusion is mind boggling, things are slowly starting to come together.
First off, the whole class that I'm in seems to be quite big, about 40-50 people all in all. They seem to keep the Nursing people and Healthcare people together for the first year and a half, so that keeps the whole group quite big. Not that I complain though, since I've already gotten to know some people from the Healthcare side. Good guys. Nice people.
The first week also soothed some of my initial fears. First off, I'm not the only male in the whole bunch (for you could probably guess that men don't usually frequent Nursing or Healthcare programmes), but there's six of us guys altogether. Nor I seem to be the oldest one either, as the whole group seems to range from 18 to 35 or so. About half of the girls seem to come straight or practically straight from high school, but it was nice to see some other people who are also doing a career change.
So yeah, that was a big relief. Being an old fart in a middle of bunch of high school girls would've made the next three and a half years kinda...awkward.
Actually the only thing that hasn't been working out is the house hunting. As I mentioned a few months ago (if my memory serves), me and bro where planning to rent a place from somewhere. Our search hasn't born much fruit, however, and to top it off, the student grant that we would both be getting seems to be quite a lot less than we initially suspected. Good thing that folks have been tolerating us so far, so long as we pull our weight around in the house that is. It might be that we need to move the whole thing into the future, to the point where we could find something reasonably cheap, or after he graduates in a year's time or so.
But anyway, there's some fun coming in the next two days. The UAS will take the whole Nursing/Healthcare bunch, the tutor students and the teachers into a summer camp. Like a camping trip with some group activities basically, just to get to know people.
Oh geez. Four dozen girls, so little time ;)
Just kidding.
Cheers y'all.
