Collection in honor of Moonlily78's daughter, Willow Jean McClay.

Now that the Internet has shown what a mean and callous place it can be, why not also show that there is also kindness and charity in the world?
In spite of the recent drama surrounding Moonlily78, it has been proven that she is exactly who she said she is. She has not lied and though her reaction to the shock of losing her daughter was atypical, so are her circumstances. It been proven that Heather spoke nothing but the truth when she reported that her not-yet four month old daughter, Willow passed away unexpectedly on April 2, 2008.
Obviously, now that the truth is out there, many of us out here feel bad about the way the situation was handled within various livejournal communities and hope that none of our actions have made this time even harder for those directly involved.
This is a great opportunity to reconcile and help out the grieving McClay family. It's time to put everything negative behind us. A baby died and obviously, all can not be made right- but we CAN help by putting our money where our mouths are and offering a helping hand.
I am also opening this offer up to the members of the other websites that Heather is affiliated with, as well as her friends list. Even if (like me) you were not part of any of the conspiracy theories, I feel that we can all pool together now and help. Even if you are hearing about this for the first time.
The money collected will be allocated as follows:
$1-$200: will go towards a Wal-Mart gift card. That way, if they need anything- food, picture frames, etc they can get it without having too much of an additional financial strain on them- we passed the $200 mark!
Any amount over $200: will go directly to the family as a cash donation. This will be done via banker's check and it will be send to the address for Heather and Brent McClay listed in the obituary.
Funerals are expensive, as are headstones and memorials. Being that a precious baby girl passed away, I'm sure the parents wish they could do more to honor her- this is a way to make it possible. It can also buy more time for Heather and Brent to stay home together and grieve.
The donation pool will close Tuesday April 8, 2008 at 11am EST.
I ask that you be kind, generous, and link to this post as much as you can to maximize the amount we're able to raise. The donation to the McClay family will be arranged on Wednesday April 9, 2008 before 12 noon EST. UPDATE Due to additional donations and my personal bank taking its good sweet time to process the transfer, this date has now been changed to 04/16/08.
For those of you who are worried about the authenticity of my offer, I will be providing screen shots of the PayPal donation screen when it closes so that everyone knows exactly how many donations were received. I will also post the reciept of the bank/post office transaction, a copy of the banker's check, a photo of myself actually mailing the envelope and the tracking number. If any additional proof of legitimacy is requested, please let me know and I'll do my best to comply. If you're still uncomfortable with the idea, that's okay too. We live in the age of scam artists. Please feel free to make your own individual donations. The address is listed in the obituary afterall.
I understand that given the current state of the American economy and the rising price of gasoline and food, it can be difficult to justify a donation to a complete stranger. Believe me, I get it- times are meager here as well. If you're unable to contribute more than a few dollars, please don't feel bad. That's amazing! Every little bit adds up. If you're unable to contribute anything, you can still help by spreading the word!

The large receiet is the actual post office transaction. You will see that it occured at 03:28:51pm EST on 4/16/2008 at Saratoga Springs (12866) main post office. You'll also see that I purchased a priority flat rate envelope which was sent to GALESBURG, IL.
Next to it is the delivery confirmation reciept. The confirmation number is 0307 1790 0005 8008 5407
Cashier's/Banker's Check
The top is a photo copy made for me by my bank (Bank of America) it is of the EXACT check that was sent to Heather. If you look at the "Pay to the Order of" line, you'll see HER name printed.
For authenticity, I have not edited anything here, so for anyone who actually looks- you now know my real name too.
The yellow copy is the transaction information at the bank. It's my copy.
EDIT 1: The first amount transfered via PayPal to my personal account was completed on Wednesday, April 9th.

EDIT 3: Before anyone asks, the reason this is taking a bit longer than anticipated is because my personal computer is down and I'm updating this from my Mother's house (which is an hour away) I don't feel comfortable messing with banking transactions at my local library.
EDIT 4: I will be going out of town on Thursday, April 17th. Everything will be wrapped up and mailed before then. This includes scans of the check, card and tracking number.
