Diabetic Cat
Fat Cat had been losing weight for a while - which we thought was good. She was, after all, very very fat. Turns out it was for a bad reason.
Poor fat cat has diabetes.
So she has to be injected twice a day with 1 unit of insulin. It's not a hell of a lot of insulin, but it's still twice a day. Here's a week's worth -
And even though I keep stabbing her in the neck, she still loves to sleep on my legs.
She's not particularly happy about it.
But she still likes me alright.
She'll be on insulin for the rest of her life.
Surprisingly, the insulin and syringes are not terribly expensive. The worst part is that she has to be injected twice a day, twelve hours apart. If not, she fails to absorb (properly digest) her food and she will vomit a lot, and her body will absorb it's own muscle and fat - which is how she lost 7 pounds. I think she's put about two pounds or so back on since we started. It's been about five weeks and she's doing well. Thank god she's an incredibly sweet cat..
