I wasn't trying to imply that you steal music; I'm just irritated because so many people do and now because the ability is so readily available they think they have some right to. And all we want to do is get our name out; if we wanted simply a profit we'd sell them for $15. Yeah, we'd like to make a living some day, but exposure is more important. We play tons of shows where we don't get paid and we're perfectly content with playing. It's what we love. And I don't know why I need to give you a reason to buy our CD. If you like our music, buy our CD, that's your reason right there. If you don't like it, don't buy it. Nobody's forcing you to do anything. If you want Mars Volta, get Mars Volta. That should be an independent decision from buying any other CD. Here, I'll break down our reasoning for you. It costs us about $900 to just have this CD mastered and have 100 copies pressed (this isn't, however, factoring equipment costs, having the CD recorded and having somebody mix it, which also adds up). If we sold it for $7, that's $700, a LOSS of $200. If we sell it for $10, that's $1000, a gain of $100, but still not enough to cover the cost of having another 100 pressed. The rest comes out of our own pockets. The Mars Volta CD is a good example of what a record label will do for ya. They are able to offer the CD for such a bargain because the record company covered all those costs (yes, a cut goes to the record company, but you can see my point because the band themselves have no production costs), however, Mars Volta and countless other artists got where they are the same way we are trying to. And for the record, I didn't mean to come off so hostile towards you, it was more the fact that I read it as somebody who just downloads song after song. I didn't say YOU specifically steals music, it was simply a general lash at those who do. And thank you btw for listening and likin the artwork.
