hey ya'll,
i got this from my friend sarah...its soo sad!!
This is a song by Steve Taylor, based on a true story. It's really sad so get your tissues out before you read on.
Baby Doe
Unfolding today
A miracle play
This Indiana morn
The father--he sighs
She opens her eyes
Their baby boy is born
"We don't understand
He's not like we planned"
The doctor shakes his head
"Abnormal" they cry
And so they decide
This child is better dead
I bear the blame
Believers are few
And what am I to do?
I share the shame
The cradle's below
And where is Baby Doe?
A hearing is sought
The lawyers are bought
The court won't let him eat
The papers applaud
When judges play God
This child is getting weak
They're drawing a bead
Reciting their creed
"Respect A Woman's Choice"
I've heard that before
How can you ignore
This baby has a voice
I bear the blame...
It's over and done
The presses have run
Some call the parents brave
Behind your disguise
Your rhetoric lies
You watched a baby starve
This story is true, about a baby that was born with a mental disability (Downsyndrom is believe it was) and the parents decided they didn't want to deal with it and thought that it wasn't fair to the baby to let it live, so they denied it any medical care and nutrition. The case was brought before a judge who sided with the parents and the baby died. In all of this hundreds (if not thousands) of couples offered to adopt the baby, but were denied by the parents.
America is a free nation, but only to those who are capable of speaking up for themselves. God bless the USA.
~~thats SOOOOO horrible!! you know what that means...naomi doesnt exist, or shudent according to them...that anyone with a disability or mutation shudent be allowed to survive. but also that anyone whos not perfect, aka doesnt have all their limbs, is slow, ect is useless to society.
so what about our soldiers that return from iraq wit a missing limb...shude they die? or those who r brillant but they learn differently from others...shude they not exist cuz now teaching them is harder?
would just like to state naomi noelle stetson is a beautiful human being. she is a CONSTANT joy to my family, and, believe it or not, SHE has taught ME lessons of life, love, patience, trust, forgiveness and much more. she captures the heart(s) of anyone and everyone she meets. she lights up the rooms with her smile and adorable face and babble.
~and yes she may be what some call 'retarded'...i call it slow. yes she takes longer to learn those simple things most little kids get. yes shes VERY small for her age...but you know what...i wouldnt trade a million "perfect" baby sisters for that buddle of joy from God named rightly naomi *which means 'plesant and delightful'*~~
ok im done.
