Notes from the Dorm Life--Take One:

Jul 30, 2007 19:17

The upsides of dorms include making your own bedtime. Unless your parents nag you over the phone, no one really cares when you go to sleep, provided you don’t disturb anyone else. Of course when all you want to do is write and listen to music with your headphones on, no one cares.

Another upside is that if you’re lucky enough to room with a good friend, you can sit and chat most of the night. Marlene and I had a really good talk and *alert alert* I might be reverting back to Christianity. Maybe. I’ve been an Atheist (a serious one) for a good six months now. Now I’m starting to rethink my stance.

Another good thing: chocolate chip cookies and Goldfish can be your dinner. We ate a really big-and late-lunch, sooo Marlene and I didn’t grab dinner at the cookout. I will admit a hotdog would’ve been delicious, but we were sooo full at dinner time that neither of us ate anything. Oh well.

Actual beds. I live in a loft, so it’s kinda like not even having a bed. So to have a bed near the floor that you can put sheets on and stuff is like heaven for me. Not to mention that my dorm room  is bigger than my room at home. Plus the closet-twice the size of mine at home. And shelves! There’s a bookcase! And a desk, like an actual big desk and tables and a dresser! It’s so different from home!

Downside-sharing a bathroom and a common room with strangers. Really nice strangers so far, but still strangers. Oh well.

Oh, having keys are sooo much fun! I think I’m going to miss the keys even more than I’ll miss being away from my parents. It’s nice not to have mum over my shoulder every time I turn around. Plus, I love all the walking I’m doing up-and-down the stairs (we’re on the 3rd floor), being essentially parent free (Mrs. Malone isn’t suffocating us… she pretty much checks-in with us every few hours), and the campus! I love the campus! Actually being on a campus is sooo much fun! Walking to class…that’s fun.

Not to mention AC that actually works! Wow!

Well it’s after 1am and I’ve got to get up at 7am, so I should go finish typing up some Fatal Target work. I’ll post this later.
