I'm taking History of Homicide, provided AACC gets their butt in gear and gives me a spot! It says that there are eight available spots, yet when I went to register online, it said the class was full and referred me to the waiting list. So I'm now number one on the waiting list, but I hate their waiting lists. Last fall I nearly got screwed out of my class thanks to a waiting list.
Mum thinks that the eight spots are still "available" because they haven't been paid for. As in the other students have done the same thing I have tried--register online, yet not turn in a payment. If so, I stand a good chance of getting a slot. I hope someone drops out and I get the slot, but I need to know ASAP so I can purchase my textbook and start preparing for class since it starts in just over a week. Chances are, I'll need to make a trip up there on Tuesday afternoon after my last class and try to register in person and pick up my textbook and a schedule of classes for fall.
I don't want to wait to take this class until fall and I don't want to take a few weeks off from class to start a class to take two weeks off to go back to high school. That's too confusing. With this class, I'm working on it in the middle of my regular high school classes and I finish two weeks after school ends for the summer. I'll be done before the end of June, leaving me the entire month of July and most of August to do whatever I want. I still get a break this way.
Besides, I can take Abnormal Psych in the fall. I really want to take my HoH now. It'll actually help me with CD. Not to mention how incredibly interesting it will be.
Oh well... time will tell I guess. Which reminds me, I went out and bought the 2007 Novel and Short Story Writer's Market. I really wanted to get the 2007 Guide to Literary Agents, but I spent close to thirty minutes seraching for it with the help of the Borders staff and all four copies that were supposed to be on the shelf were MIA. You can only imagine how confused the staff and I were. So I bought the Novel one instead. It's got a lot (I spent three hours marking and highlighting a long list of possible agents in the agent section) but I still wanted the one solely on agents. The good news is that I've got a coupon for 30% a book for this Thursday thru Sunday, so I'll probably try again. After all, mum is willing to put money towards it and I still have twenty some dollars, which is more than enough. I actually saved close to seven bucks with my 25% coupon for this week. It was only like $21 something with tax included after my coupon. With the 30% off one, it'll be just under $20, so I can afford it without having to dig back into my savings account or my new paycheck coming Friday.
Which reminds me also, I need to make a decision about the horse show this coming Sunday. If I'm going, I need to beg for my show jacket and a pair of pants from Aunt Deb, find money for show fees, and arrange transportation to and from the show and make sure that the barn will be bringing a horse for me. Not to mention get parental permission. If Aunt Deb doesn't still have my jacket and I can't borrow breeches or buy a pair, I'm sunk. I don't have $200 for a jacket and another $50 or more for pants. I don't. And I'm hoping the show fees are reasonable. $10 a class is my limit and that means I can only do two to four classes at the most with my paycheck. I usually only pay $6 a class and even that's expensive.
Hopefully I'll get all the information I need at the barn on Monday, speak to mum while I'm there, and get this set up right then and just worry about the jacket and stuff later. I still have my shirt (if you don't count the moth hole in the back), my new stock pin, my velvet helmet cover, hair net (need some more pins though), and rubber boots. I'm not happy about the rubber boots, but I can probably get away with them. The good news is the day before the show, I'm at my aunt's, so I can pick up my jacket and breeches then. Bad news--I still need a garment bag. That means a trip to the tack shop between Tuesday and Friday this week. Probably on Wednesday, which means I can't buy the agent book until after I get paid on Friday, unless mum pays for the garment bag and/or my breeches OR pays for the book.
I hope this all works out and I get to do the show. I really want to show again. It also means I need to take my tack home on Monday and clean my saddle. I sure hope I can get this to work.
I'm gonna go work on the CD site and finish up chapter fifty-one. Later!
