Hi everyone :3 I decided to do a little bit of iconning again and the below is the result. There are seriously so many amazing challenges happening nowadays that I just bit and bullet and barrelled ahead with a "1 caps, 7 icons" challenge at the7days which I had never gotten around to submitting for back when I was still active (sorry!). In any case ( Read more... )

The composition in 2 is so thoughtful and wistful! Great detailing with the music notes! The blending in 6 is so wonderful, and I love the choice of her in color against his large b/w figure! The text work and levels in 7 are completely stunning. I just love the borders on the top and bottom, too! :D

WHY ARE YOU STALKING ME

...I was going to say that in the other maker's LJ entry but I realized just in time it would look weird to hijack her post, so

WHY

LOL

And thank yewwww this was at the peak of my Mattias Schoenaerts attraction so I was pretty much watching this movie over and over again lol. But I couldn't figure out how to icon him D: so I just iconned them together. LOL. 7 is my somewhat underappreciated baby lol so I'm super pleased you like it!

BECAUSE I CAN. DEAL WITH IT.

Heeeee!!! I know. I sometimes highjack other people's comments and feel so bad about it. Thank you for addressing my stalker behavior here in an appropriate place! :P

7 is underappreciated? Are the people who look at your work generally blind? Interesting. Must make virtual glasses for all members of icon community. It's going on my to-do list. Also, I forgot to mention last time that 9 is FANTASTICALLY VIBRANT and the colors are so rich and sumptuous! :D

Haha if it was someone we both know/seem to be chummy with I wouldn't have second thoughts of hijacking, but I got a bit shy since I don't know them much LOL but I was like OMG LOL KIM WHATTTT

Haha I like 7 for its quirkiness and levels and weird text and because it was a bit of a bitch to work with XD so you could say I'm biased haha. Actually all the Suite Francaise icons were quite the challenge due to the film's cinematography, which was BEAUTIFUL but relatively dark.

...who am I kidding I was just really super 100% rusty at the time LOL (not that I'm much better now but I'm...faster? LOL)

Yeah, totally get that. Soon enough, everyone will be aware of how chatty we are and just ignore us wherever we go even if we're hijacking their threads. (Also, did I write highjack in my other comment? What's happening to my brain?!)

7 seems like the kinda thing I figured most people would like. It has great vibrant blocks and really nicely aligned text. I have a tough time working with any film's caps, no matter how well-lit so I'm sure the Suite Francaise caps would have made me cry.

Hey, we're all entitled to some rustiness after a hiatus, man! You've shaken off any rust like you never even left!

LOL highjack is a valid word too, as far as I know! A bit uncommon but seems to be valid? I know I've fluctuated between using either. And personally I switch between American and British English a lot, as the Philippines is pretty much American English while Singapore is obviously British, haha. So you won't see me being uppity about that lol

Also I've been typoing a lot recently too. Lack of sleep etc. Not that you were interested.

YOU'RE TOO KIND :* :* :*

I've heard that the differences between British and American English are so vast that one day, people who speak only one version may not understand someone who speaks the other. Is that actually true?!

Also, my fam just got back from a trip to the Philippines yesternight. I haven't been there in almost 12 years. So sad. :(

Ughhh, when I make a typo, I wanna kick myself. And lack of sleep is a common thing now, thanks to grad school, so I feel you, my friend. Seriously.

YOU'RE TOO AWESOME. END OF STORY.

GET OUT. ARE YOU PARTIALLY FILIPINO O RSOMETHIN G

Haha I don't know about the British/American english thing, maybe it's all down to accent and slang?

IF BY PARTIALLY, YOU MEAN 100%, THEN YES.

That's what I was thinking, but it sounded so weird to me cuz I feel like I totally understand most of what a British person is saying even with slang thrown in. Maybe I read that wrong somewhere or misunderstood what I read.

WHAT I DIDNT KNOW THAT OMG HI

But then again I'm also NOT in the Philippines so it's like, what are you surprised about girl. LOL. Although it's only 3 hours away so I get to go back about twice a year. I could do it oftener but my wallet can't. I think if I lived in the US I would only do it like...once a decade or something. LOL

And I know, I don't find them difficult to understand! Although maybe it's possible if the accentis way thick or if it's like deep in the countryside and they have slang that's really totally alien to me? Like I've seen some youtube vids of Aussies doing Aussie slang and I'm like, wut. LOL

There was that one time I went to the UK countryside and a guy made a pass at me in a bar and I couldn't understand a thing he was saying, unless he really wasn't making a pass at me while sitting uninvited at my table and he really meant that I was fat. But he smelled drunk so I'm attributing it to that instead.

HELLOOOOOOOO. I was born and raised in LA, but I've been to the Philippines once every decade of my life and lived there for 2 years when I was really young. What part are you from? My parents are from Cebu.

Yeah, certain accents are def harder to decipher than others, and if you throw in slang, I suppose that would really muddy it up.

AHAHAHA! The only time anyone EVER hits on me is when they're drunk...or I'm drunk. Which then sobers me up cuz I'm either creeped out, or I feel bad cuz I realize nobody ever hits on me unless they're inebriated.

Laguna! It's a province about two hours south of Manila (although who knows, it's probably longer on average now due to traffic conditions...lol). I've only been to Cebu once and it was for a business trip, and I didn't get to go around :( I hope to visit someday!

Lol same. I don't usually have much of a night life so I don't get a lot of "opportunity" for that, but most times it's happened it's also quite unwanted. Ugh creepers.
