How difficult is it to get back to making icons after a break? Ugh. There are also some older icons in this batch, along with some remakes. Over the break I've also gotten obsessed with The Lizzie Bennet Diaries, so here you see some proof of that :P ( Read more... )

pitch perfect, paradise kiss, jane eyre, .2013, elementary, the lizzie bennet diaries, lord of the rings, #theiconquest, the hobbit, !icons, star trek, harry potter, #bestof-icons, howl's moving castle

Yaaaaay you have watched it!! I have been wanting to make an LBD post for some time now but I keep thinking no no no I can't spoil it for Kim who is still watching! Haha. I watched in order and so had no idea what Darcy looked like until I got to that episode and gosh, I was kinda jumping in my seat when he actually walked into the room. dlkfjadsjlajflsakdjfa

I've heard criticism about why is it that Bing is more handsome than Darcy, but honestly I'm pretty happy Darcy is not THAT much of a pretty boy. I don't know, Bing felt too sweet-cute. (...which is the point.)

Okay I am starting to ramble at you, ooops. But! With regards to Lydia's channel, I agree. I like the more home-made feel of her channel, and to be honest I'm quite taken with her too. The way they've fleshed Lydia out is fantastic, although now I'm really curious how they're going to handle the Lydia/Wickham thing. Are they going to deviate from their storyline and not have them be together? Because seriously, even if Lydia stays idealistic/naive about Wickham's real intentions, I love her too much now to want her to be with that guy. I almost couldn't finish watching that episode on her channel where she's talking about calling Jane and Wickham is all against her sisters because "he's looking out for her". UGH, SERIOUSLY.

But Darcy ♥

P.S. Thank you for the colors compliment! I'm not too pleased with this set looking back on it, ugh, I feel kind of lost with icons right about now. Who would have thought a month+ not making them would make me go back to square one, ugh.

Lol @ the jumping in your seat when Darcy came into it! I agree that Darcy isn't as much of a pretty boy as Bing, but I have to admit that I found him a bit... wooden/stilted, I guess? I don't know, I guess I've always thought of Darcy as giving off a haughty/arrogant vibe (at least until you get to know him, if you know what I mean) but I don't think that necessarily translates to wooden/stilted? It would be hard to act, though. Really hard. In any case, he's starting to loosen up which is nice, and corresponds to his progression as a character in the story. :)

And I actually really like that they've made Lydia a more relatable character in this series. She's never been a favourite character of mine, but I think they've done an excellent job of showing just how naive/vulnerable she really is despite all the bluffing. I like that they made Jane so understanding of her, too. (Actually, all the girls are really well acted in general, I think!) But like you, I can't see where they're going with the Lydia/Wickham storyline now. It would just be too horrible for her to end up with him now... :/

Yeah, in terms of characterization I understand why they went with a more "I'm more awkward than arrogant" thing for Darcy, as opposed to just plain arrogant. I prefer just the self-assured arrogance, but I will admit to being very taken with his awkwardness around Lizzie too, and the slight change during that interview episode was interesting. I mean, he's very awkward when talking to Lizzie, but when he addressed the channel ("what would you viewers like to know?") I felt like his "normal" confidence showed up for a bit there, like how he must be professionally/in meetings/etc, you know? It's rather endearing.

But you know how much of a Darcy fangirl I am. I am unapologetic.

Daniel Vincent Gordh, who plays Darcy, is kind of amazing though. He has this character reel that is like out of this world crazy. I warn you though, if you watch it you may never be able to watch Darcy with a straight face again, hahaha. I don't think he's cute outside of being Darcy though.

Totally agree on Lydia, and yes, all of them have been pretty well acted (poor Kitty just getting a cameo as Lydia's pet though! ...although, well, that IS kind of the case anyway). Have you seen 87 yet? OMG. Speechless.

Actually, that's a really good point that hadn't considered! But yes, with this particular series, the awkward thing probably works a lot better than the arrogant thing given the ages involved (and that character reel was all sorts of crazy! lol).

But you know how much of a Darcy fangirl I am. I am unapologetic.

Haha, no need to feel unapologetic for being a Darcy fangirl. ;) I'm just as big a fangirl... but more along the Knightley lines. ;) (Can you imagine how they would portray Emma? LOL!)

Have you seen 87 yet? OMG. Speechless.

Just watched it now! Wow. I think that's the best I've seen from all of them. But they are seriously going to have to deviate from the plot now. There is no way, after all that, they can have Lydia end up with him. No way.

Haha, yes, crazy! The singing was actually kind of amazing. I wonder if he thought up that science teacher thing all by himself, I know I'd be just as disturbed and crying if I was one of this students haha.

And OH MY, I hope they do Emma next! Emma's personality would be JUST PERFECT for a video blog. I will also probably end up annoyed with her at some point as with Romola's Emma, but that's just the hallmark of fabulous acting. AND we'd see Knightley a lot earlier and have him in the video blog and...gosh. It would be so perfect.

I actually thought I'd love to see them do Persuasion, but I'm really curious at how a character like Anne might end up doing a video blog. It's totally not her kind of thing to do. Mary though...sort of, she's probably love to be able to rant all she likes, but that would be a very boring and tedious channel...

And gosh, yes. 87's acting...amazing. I was crying by the end of it. (Also an unapologetic crybaby.)

Actually, you're right, she would be perfect for a video blog! And yes, Knightley would be there from the very beginning; in fact, it wouldn't be hard for an Emma character to come up with reasons about why everything should be filmed. ;)

I doubt they would do Emma, though. :( Not many people seem to like the story of Emma very much so I have a feeling that they'd be more inclined to follow up with, say, S&S instead (which could work, I suppose; I could imagine Marianne starting a youtube channel to showcase her music and having it snowball out from there).

And LOL! Yes, Mary's channel (re: Persuasion) would be incredibly boring and tedious...

Awww. I've actually always assumed the next best loved Austen novel is Emma; I'm not sure why I thought that if it isn't the case. Maybe because of the movie and Clueless coming out?

And Marianne starting a youtube channel for her music would be just perfect!

(You should start one ;) hee.)
