Have you ever honestly believed someone who said they were the smartest person they knew? Or have you instantly shut them out? It seems there is no end to the list of people who will tell you they are the smartest person they knew/in their school/at work/at a particular social function. As soon as these words escape their mouth they are pariah, open to taunting, mocking, physical abuse and complete shunnery. The proof, to use an old idiom, is in the pudding. The smartest person I know would never say so, because the smarter you get, the more you realize you don't know anything.
