(no subject)
I've been grappling with the question of the soul lately. What is it? I think of "myself" as the concious, thinking entity. But this can easily be disrupted by say, lobotomizing someone. So this cannot be the eternal "soul". Some would say it's the essence of oneself, the stillness. I find this hard to believe. I just can't imagine dying and being an "unthinking' being for the rest of my existence. There really is no way to be certain. I also like to think the beginning of the universe was a random event, because then all events would be predetermined, which would mean that if you knew everything in the universe you could know the future. Which would make time travel theoretically possible, which would make Dr. Who theoretically possible. Which would kick ass. But I'm sure I'll change my mind about this tomorrow.
