Stamford public elementary school lottery: stats : year 2009
Just went to the Stamford PS lottery for Sasha (entering K in Sept. 09)
Here are some stats.
Number of applications submitted for each school:
(Note: this includes dups, some people applied to several schools in the same time, i.e. we applied to all four)
Hart : 180
Rogers 246?(296?)
Toquam: 280
Westover: 442
Number of lottery seats For K available:
Hart : 25 (they will have four K classes)
Rogers: 62 (five K classes)
Toquam : 52 (five K classes)
Westover 50 (five K classes)
We applied to all four schools, and ranked Westover 1st, Rogers 2nd, Toquam 3rd, and Hart 4th.
I AGONIZED in February as to which school should be #1: Westover or Rogers. But the administrators at Stamford Public Schools Research office and several other people told me the chances of getting in Rogers are so small, that only having maybe #5 will do that. So, I placed Rogers 2nd. This is very confusing, the number of seats at Rogers through lottery as stated above is 62, then why didn't I place it first? anyway, I will be happy with Westover... Will wait for invitation letter.
