As I (usually) do, I went over to B's place in Queens to watch Flight of the Conchords last night after work, in the continued tradition of our viewing parties back in our London flat when they started playing the first season on BBC Three.
First: Dave is still my favourite:
"Guys. Women like three things: men in kilts, Southern Comfort, and Chris Isaak's Wicked Games."
("I know about brassieres. Do you know about brassieres?" - Jemaine)
Secondly. I Told You I Was Freaky. WHAT. That is by far the craziest fucking song they've ever done on the show. Naked Bret, goats on boats, wallpaper chameleon girlfriends...costumes! It definitely gave Prince a run for his money. We basically sat there on her couch with our jaws dropped and burst into hysterical laughter when it was over. AND how much was this shot a shoutout to the Boosh?
I mean, I don't think I'm reaching here. The tweed and pipe (Jemaine = Howard?) and the multicoloured cape and headdress (Bret = Vince, because they're always the woman). Also remember that the two sets are friends and always came to see each others' shows at Edinburgh, and that the Boosh asked the Conchords to perform at this summer's Boosh festival (too busy filming this season) and that time the Boosh were interviewed and Noel mentioned texting Jemaine, whom he referred to as J-Dog.
Which I believe I mentioned a while ago. (Still not over that.)
