Blur to re-form for massive Hyde Park gig
I am not excited about this at all. Nope. I certainly didn't run around my room and do a crazy Snoopy dance for about five minutes.
...FINALLY, GUYS, FINALLY!!!!!!! THIS IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN THAT TIME I MISSED BLUR (MINUS GRAHAM, PLUS SIMON TONG) AT THE GREAT AMERICAN MUSIC HALL IN SAN FRANCISCO BACK IN SUMMER 2003!
I'll be over here, planning my itinerary for London next summer.
ETA: Oh, and via Sterogum is another leak from Animal Collective's upcoming (ON INAUGURATION DAY!) Merriweather Post Pavilion, My Girls. This is me, daring the Web Sheriff to shut me down. (I wish I was joking.) I've listened to live versions of this a bunch but the studio track is siiiick. (girlcontinuum, I think you are the only one who cares about this? WHERE ARE YOU!?)
I still wish I hadn't been at work for a billion hours the day that Brother Sport/Brothersport leaked. Because the Web Sheriff is an a-hole and as ever I only have the live version to console me.
This album is going to kill us all (in the good ways). AC has evolved and reinvented themselves so quickly and creatively, so many times, in a way I haven't seen since, well, Radiohead. I mean even just from 2003's Sung Tongs with the clickety-clackety drums and the strummy syncopated guitars that is now their 'signature sound' or rather the stereotype that everyone clings to, to today's crazy samples and loops and Panda Bear's Beach Boys-y harmonies...it's been a mad ride.
