Announcement!: Bill Bailey's Tinselworm has finally been released to the general public on DVD, so now you, too, can get your friends to sing "I've got ham/but I'm not a hamster" whenever they hear The Killers' All These Things That I've Done. I watched the whole show last night in a fit of glee and I am still dancing around to the Drum 'n' Bush and the Bollywood Pandits' cover of Creep. I totally snorted my tea when I realized it was the same band that had covered Rednex' Cotton Eye Joe with him on the Buzzcocks Christmas special in 2006. Best entrance music ever: Thus Spake Zarathustra into SexyBack? It was amazing to hear him talk about his "meteoric" rise to fame; I had no idea he's been doing stand-up for 22 years! As he said, meteoric, "If the meteor was being dragged by an old arthritic donkey across a plowed field in Northern Poland." (Also, his three-year-old son on James Blunt: "Switch it off Daddy...it's spoiling my brain!")
I keep listening to
Sweet Esame, or that's what we all think it's going to be called. I've seen it performed twice (once at the Royal Albert Hall in London, once at the Brooklyn Academy of Music) and I am so excited for Joanna's new album --though unlike
March of the Zapotec,
Noble Beast,
Bromst,
Merriweather Post Pavilion or even
the new Grizzly Bear, there is no date or even an actual album being bandied about. It's only that it's been over two years since Ys and she DOES have a handful of new songs floating around, so it's time for her to get her ass in gear and stop futzing around Brooklyn with Andy Samberg. ...I've said too much.
However, I think I've finally grown the balls to grow out my hair in its natural colour, which is pretty much hers. Or maybe a little darker, then again I can't actually remember. (Also, holy crap,
this could have been a picture of me at 12.)
In conclusion, this is what my face looks like in regards to all of the Blur starting to play together again news (just google if you don't know what I'm talking about):
...Also, this is going to be the best. closing song. everrrrr.
