I wasn't going to post about this, but ...I'm gonna. Today marks a year from my flight from San Francisco to London. It was right about an hour ago, considering the time difference, that the plane left. I've been thinking about this 'anniversary' all week. I'm still hung up over London, still missing it like a fool, still dreaming about Boots (literally, it was odd), still am on a billion London-related email lists. Including my old gym. Oh, Fitness First.
And today ALSO marks a year from the day I, in a fit of insomnia finally watched some episodes of The Mighty Boosh on the airplane (Nanageddon and The Legend of Old Gregg, thanks Virgin Atlantic), thus forever changing my views on scat singing and thus embarking on a journey of alienating myself from my friendslist.
Oh Barratt and Fielding, never leave me. I was going to write a note for
hostile17girl to give to them when she sees them on the first night of their new live show on 11 September in Edinburgh, but she left my apartment before I could come up with anything witty. It should have said something like this:
Dear boys,
Please come to America. No, seriously. Rank that as a higher priority than releasing your telly show DVDs in Region 1 format, though the combination of that and some sort of deal with Comedy Central or BBC America for a decent broadcasting schedule of your show would be nice. (I'd go with the former, as the latter seems to have lost the plot or any sense of quality these days, and the former already shows Garth Marenghi's Darkplace on Adult Swim! Double feature anyone?) Anyway, do some live shows in the States. At least do a couple in New York City, see how it pans out. Perhaps you can bribe Russell Brand with hairspray to let you both come along when he hosts the VMAs. Also, please advise him NOT TO PLAY FRANK IN THE ROCKY HORROR MTV REMAKE AS RUMOURED. He seems to be obsessed enough with the both of you to listen to your wise, wise advice.
Accompanying this note was going to be a picture of me drinking Baileys from a shoe, but as I do not shoot film much anymore, my printer sucks, and I don't have a Polaroid camera at the moment, you'll just have to imagine it.
Lots of love and satsumas,
Eve
P.S. Please work with Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg and Nick Frost again. As the only proof of your joint awesomeness seems to be Mint Royale's Blue Song music video, you need to step it up.

I don't know what I'm more excited for tonight, Barack Obama's speech at the DNC, or Radiohead
webcasting their final show in America for this tour. It's going to be SPECTACULAR SPECTACULAR no words in the vernacular can describe this grand event, you'll be dumb in wonderment...
ETA: Oh crap CNN says there's a giant crowd of people gathered at Times Square waiting to watch Barack Obama's speech on the big screen!
Should I go up there and join? Pros: OH MY FUCK AWESOME/Cons: I hate Times Square under normal circumstances...
