Watched last week's Friday Night with Jonatton Yeah? --which, btw, is what I've been referring to Jonathan Ross ever since I watched Nathan Barley, and then I rewatched the Big Fat Quiz of the Year 2007 and realised Lily Allen actually calls him that-- because of the lineup. I don't usually download it, but will watch it if someone's on. And last Friday, oh yes, here we have the headlining guests:
David Tennant & Catherine Tate
...with musical guest Radiohead.
So my current favourite moment of fannish concurrence is David Tennant and Thom Yorke sitting right next to each other in the green room and squirming as that reptile wrangler guy was being bitten viciously by a false water cobra. (Or Jonathan saying that David thought Radiohead were just a bunch of Who fanboys. "Make one out to Thom with an 'h'!") All made the more surreal by the fact that on the other side of Catherine was freaking John Hurt.
The previous winning moment, naturally, was Noel Fielding flipping out with awe over Thom's hilariously cracked-out taped question about In Rainbows on said Big Fat Quiz. "...Is that real? ...That's better than having two legs!*"
I also enjoy that YouTube video of Final Fantasy and like, half of The Arcade Fire all coming out for an encore at a Beirut show to bust into a joyous rendition of The Gulag Orkestar.
In any case. This song is eating my brain. Take it, if you wish:
Deerhunter - Octet.
(This song is a bit reminiscent of Caribou, only somehow more dreamy and more psychedelic. Think a big dance party under the stars in the middle of a big field in the mountains. Oh my god I just accidentally typed 'fielding' when I was typing 'field'. This is only the first time, but I'm afraid it'll turn into that thing where I can't actually type 'radio' without automatically typing 'radiohead'.)
* A reference to Jonathan's (these concurrences all seem to happen around him!) earlier joke about Heather Mills.
