I've said before that while I love Extras, I find it far more disturbing to watch than I ever found The Office.
Bearing that in mind I'd just like to point out that the Extras Christmas Special was the single most depressing thing I have ever watched. (Broken up by the highlight of my life -- Stephen Merchant dancing to a ringtone.)
Not like Doomsday what tore your heart out and ate it with a rusty spoon, depressing in the sense of that moment in The West Wing when Toby buys Andy the house and asks her to marry him again, and she won't, because he's too sad.
Like that, only instead of a scene it was an hour-and-a-half long.
Andy's monologue right before the end was pure genius, and the end itself perfection, but wow.
I just...I've never seen anything like that before.
