the amazing sound of the killing hordes

I had other things to post about, like how happy I am about Journey's End winning the Best Revival Tony [come for the Hugh Dancy In Uniform, stay and cry for the horrible angst and brotherhood] and Coast of Utopes winning like, everything else [best. spectacle of theatre experience. ever. except for maybe the McDonagh plays I've seen], and how I'm still a bit terrified of the Weeping Angels, and doing that musician picture meme and that movie quote meme, but then I drove to work.

What a day. I don't even know where to start.

Bookstores are suprisingly good for holing up in. We had plenty of copies of Max Brooks' The Zombie Survival Guide and World War Z, so we even got some research in. First we deadbolted the doors and supported them with all of our heaviest books and DVD sets. Unfortunately, we then discovered a few of my coworkers and a handful of customers at the time had been infected -- I actually shouted "We're not using the z word!" a couple times -- but as we in the cafe discovered, scalding hot milk-steaming wands are quite useful as a weapon. Once they were blinded, we used the double-ended lightsaber behind the counter [and other random weapons] to bash them over the head. I managed to sneak out the back after a few hours and hightail it up the backroads over Mount Tam and into West Marin. It's a bit dangerous out here, it's all fog and cliffs, but it's all National and State park land so I should be mostly zombie free. At least for tonight. Tomorrow I might head south a bit to the Headlands and see if any of the old WWII bunkers are still functional.

We're coming to get you, Barbara!
