I am amused that the latest Supernatural episode seems to be named after one of my favourite Zeppelin songs of all time. [Well basically, II > all other Zeppelins.]
As for tonight's Doctor Who.
I was actually expecting not to like this one very much, mostly due to the trailer.
But! Maybe it was good that I came into it that way, because boy were my expectations beat! Mark Gatiss! It was Mark Gatiss in bad old makeup, and in at least two nude shots. [I especially liked how they had the Doctor stand right in front of his ass, because come on...this is a kids' show. Apparently.]
I love how they finally dealt with the "just one trip" deal, and how he just couldn't resist: "Did he really say he was going to change the definition of human?"
So he came back, and they were in fancy dress -- "Every time I'm in black tie, something goes wrong!" -- and he looks a bit like James Bond. "Really?"
I mean, anyone whose last name is Lazarus has got a bit of bad luck coming towards them. Especially if they end up in the scientific or...paranormal field. A bit anvilicious, but it was a great tie-in with all the Eliot references. Most of it was all up in the Hollow Men [loved the Doctor's: "...lies the shadow." HOT.] but hey, I am Lazarus, come from the dead, come back to tell you all, I shall tell you all--
LOVED all the Mr Saxon references, and I just knew that creepy brunet man was working for him. I wonder, though, what he told Martha's mother. What would be really interesting, as a matter of fact, would be if he just told her...the truth. But I doubt it.
I love Martha and Tish's relationship, they are very sisterly in an honest way that I haven't seen on television.
Ten and Martha in that very very small compartment. Hee. "Nice shoes, by the way."
Ten turning it up to 11. ♥♥♥
Martha CONFRONTING him, like the badass lovely girl she is. Stop leading me around, either leave me or take me on for real. LOVE her. And he said OK, and she misunderstood, and he was confused, and it was adorable, and the end. NEXT WEEK!

SPOOOOOOILER SPAAAAAAAAAAAACE
Oh my god, how infatuated am I with John Simm? All I see of him is seconds of him acting slightly psychopathic as Mr Saxon and I'm like, BRING ME SAXON NOW! And plus we have CAPTAIN JACK HARKNESS! Oh god, these are going to be the greatest episodes, ever. I guess I'll have to finish Torchwood soon.
But it was kind of odd: I got really surprised at the trailer, thinking I had been tricked, and that John Simm and John Barrowman are going to show up sooner than I had thought. Then I realised that this was just a giant mondo trailer for the rest of the season, which was really disorienting as I wanted to know the plot for next week's. SO. I went onto IMDb, saw the description and castlist for episode 8, and OH MY GOD.
JESSICA STEVENSON. Jess is going to be on Doctor Who! Simon was The Editor back in S1, and now Jess is here! Suddenly I imagine David Tennant in the next Wright-Pegg-Frost film [with Stevenson -- of course, I'm still confused as to why she didn't at least cameo in Hot Fuzz...it should have been HER as Janine!] and my brain is exploding.
This all brings me back, though, to what I've been meaning to mention since the day I saw the pilot of Life on Mars. I kept wondering why John Simm was so familiar looking, and then I finally got an image in my head of him wearing small oval sunglasses and smiling oddly -- then, aha! He's Stephen, the stranger Daisy meets in the airport on the way back from Asia in Back [series 2, episode 1] of Spaced! He's the one who the Matrixy-type agents are really after.
One of the Matrixy-type agents, of course, being played by Mark Gatiss.
Full circle, people. I love it.
There's two places [a bar, a fundraiser party] I could/should be tonight, but will probably not attend. I'm just exhausted. Besides, Cinco de Mayo isn't even the real Día de la Independencia, anyway.
But 'Dieciséis de Septiembre' isn't as catchy, I guess.
