Am back in the yay area! Where the weather is to be in the high-70s and I am going to the beach!
But way to go, new Daylight Savings Time, for now falling on the morning I wake up after having travelled three time zones away. Because I just woke up at what would have been 8:30 AM Eastern Standard yesterday, what my computer says is 9:30 AM, what my iPod says is 5:30 AM, and what I guess is really 6:30 Pacific Daylight.
And I couldn't go back to sleep. Like, not even turn over and just relax. I had to get out of bed. I can count the amount of times that's happened in my life on one hand.
But yesterday on the plane while attempting to sleep and instead gaining a painful crick in my neck, all of a sudden I just had this need to open the window shade and look out. I had no idea where we were flying over, but I just...had to.
So I opened the shade, a little dazed, and looked out. It was honestly the most terrified I'd ever been looking out an airplane window. It looked like a nuclear wasteland, or what I imagined one to be. It was flat, entirely level for as far as I could see, and it was a dull brown lightly covered with snow. It looked abandoned. There were sparse buildings and roads but no life whatsoever. It looked like no one had lived there for a hundred years.
Anyway. So that was my frightening moment for the day. I still don't know where we were flying over, though I think it may have been south of a Great Lake.
And I swear I didn't choose this song on purpose for this post. ;)
