Uhm. I have a confession to make.
I woke up at 6:30 again this week to watch Sunday's Rome.
[Which was hilarious for my body, because I watched the Superbowl with Roomie J and between us we downed almost 4 liters of Coke. So neither of us could fall asleep until, like 3 AM. This is only the second year I've ever watched the Superbowl. Back when everyone had that "LJ Dislikes" in their userinfo bio, one of mine was "fútbol americano". I've been watching it in recent times because it's an excuse to hang out/pig out/booze out (now, that's not even a phrase). And I was going for the Bears because she was and because honestly, I wouldn't know Indianapolis if it hit me in the face. So it was a very stressful game, as I ended up getting really into it and the Bears made complete asses out of themselves.]
And I want to write a reaction post but I think I need to force myself to reply to all my comments because I've been a jerk about that for the last few ...years. Last couple of weeks [months?], I've been telling myself that I can't post until I reply, but that just hasn't happened.
So to compromise [in a way], I'm just posting a very short and simple reaction to Rome.
OMFG SIMON WOODS.
OMFG OCTAVIAN.
OMFG SIMON WOODS.
OMFG OCTAVIAN!
I hate that this is going to seem like such a shift in my Rome-love in the...annals of Evedom, so I'll just state it right here that Octavian has always been one of my favourites. I just. OMFG SIMON WOODS AND HIS CRAZY EYES! He's going to be in the two upcoming McAvoy movies: Starter For 10 [which, as I pointed out to
winter_baby, also stars Servilia and Cassius!], and Penelope, which looks terrible, but now I have TWO pretty reasons to see it. If not pay for it. We'll just go to the AMC 42 and see like, 3 movies in one day. And he was in the Mirren-Dancy-Irons Elizabeth I miniseries of awesomeness...which I still have on my ext HD and have not watched. So, I'll have lots of ample opportunity in feeding this new, ridiculous obsession with...er, Simon Woods. My brain started to turn into Moulin Rouge! there.
Also: I had a GIANT page o' tabs that my stupid computer decided to just...exit, and therefore lost the post I started a few days ago. [LJ would have saved it had I not already started to write this one in another tab.] But I think all I really said was:
I saw Volver last week, Little Children on Thursday, and on Friday had Kinky Boots from Netflix. I wanted to write multitudes on all of them, but the first just turned from Almodóvar Is Love into my
exasperated cry of feminist outrage. The second multitude pretty much failed because my soul was crushed into tiny pieces. Luckily the third film lifted it right back up again. Because the only thing better than Chiwetel Ejiofor is Chiwetel Ejiofor in drag. In two feet of tubular sex, or however Lola's saying went.
There. Now I will do nothing but reply to old comments.
ETA: Oh, and: I think I'm just going to go ahead and not watch Studio 60 tonight. And wait until the season's over to decide if I actually want to catch up. Because in that great page of tabs there was a post by
mistakency where she basically summed up everything with:
To be fair? Tom/Lucy is cute. But that's kind of like saying that at least the corpse you just discovered on your lawn has nice hair.
Among other salient points.
