1. Saw Andrew Bird at the Bowery Ballroom on Wednesday and all through the concert I kept thinking that his hair looked like the love child of Mac's and Bob Dylan's. I would post a setlist but it would really only amount to this: 'A Nervous Tic Motion of the Head to the Left', 'I', 'Skin Is, My', 'Glass Figurine', 'Tables and Chairs' and a billion new songs interspersed. The version of Glass Figurine wasn't the version he does with his Bowl of Fire, it was slower and sweeter. The new songs he did play were absolutely marvellous, though, and his new album is out on 20 March! Armchair Apocrypha, and it's going to blow everything out of the water. The most adorable thing, though, was the fact that he really DOES have a nervous tic motion of the head to the left when performing, most noticeably during that song.
2. Saw Notes on a Scandal with Roomie J and McG on Saturday night. And holy shit, Patrick Marber really never fails to crush my soul and destroy my faith in human relationships. [See a production of Closer sometime and forget the movie. Except for Clive Owen's Larry.] But Judi Dench, man, JUDI DENCH. And Cate Blanchett and Bill Nighy! Some of the scenes were so brutal I could hardly watch. Marber writes relationship dramas like Greek tragedy and he cuts sharper than anything.

new album in the works
13 January 2007
sigur rós have begun recording their new album and expect to finish it later this year. in an interview with fréttablaðið newspaper, georg says it remains to be seen whether the band will be taking a totally new direction on the album. “we have finished recording a few songs but some more things need to be done. we don’t know exactly where the album is heading yet. we are really just experimenting at this stage. some of the songs we recorded are old songs which we had written a while ago, unreleased material which we never got a chance to finish. we decided it was time they were recorded.” georg says there is a possibility the album will be released this year but nothing is confirmed at this point.
Come on please! Lagið í gær, or the Duet, or the supposed Banjodjamm! Or some Von redux, like they did with Hafssól! I'm excited about the supposed 'new direction', because well, every album's been freakishly different and while Takk... was a perfect foil to ( ), I can't even IMAGINE where they'll go now! SO DAMN EXCITED!!!!! EXCLAMATION POINT!!!!
4. Over the past few days since
this post, I've watched through 1x08 of Rome. With McG and a copious amount of wine, half of the time. And now I am in utter and absolute love. So instead of finishing my readings for Tuesday, I think I shall watch some more right now. :)
