Remember how last year was possibly the worst NYE of my life, full of the entirety of Marin County flooding and the Macparents watching Serenity with me and totally *not* getting it? I KNOW, RIGHT? Okay, you were probably looking for a more coherent response but I KNOW. Angel = my favorite use of music in a TV show ever, and that's saying a lot. I can't decide whether it's how the music blends in with the scene (and the clacking of the typewriter at the beginning), or how the lyrics line up and underscore what's happening, or how it's just so damn creepy and makes me want to crawl out of my skin. Answer: D) All of the above!

When I saw it on your last.fm last night sans the rest of the album (for a while), I said, "Eve watched Commencement!!!" It was a hunch, but seriously. Awesome.

The thing that gets me is that in the commentary, Sorkin says they had been planning to use another song and it wasn't working, until one day he was driving to work listening to "Angel" and decided to use it at the last minute. Who has moments of genius at the last minute? Oh, Sorkin. Kill me with that and TAYE DIGGS.

Also, I caught up on TWW two years after everybody else, so you're not alone. I only watched a couple of S5 episodes before I dropped out from The Suck, and came back to the first few seasons later. It's a pretty good thing to discover.
