In the past month or so while I had come to accept that I had missed out on seeing Capote in theatres, I was very disappointed. Luckily, I was wrong. This afternoon Suitemate J discovered it was still playing up in Times Square, and we were off.
As much as I loveloveloooove Brokeback Mountain to the point of pain, and Heath Ledger's performance, Philip Seymour Hoffman deserves 5 billion Oscars for his Truman Capote.
[And for that matter, I think The Constant Gardener deserves to win the Oscar for Best Picture. Cinematography, ensemble cast, writing, colour, direction, emotion, politics, romance --that film has everything.]
Hoffman is just...fucking amazing. I was left dumbstruck, and I still am.
