but if you listen, quiet, you can hear the footsteps on the cross-trees

Tomorrow I'm leaving for Lake Tahoe. Hopefully my computer will be back in my hands, fully restored, by the time I get back. It's been in CompUSA since last...Wednesday? Or whichever day it was when I posted my question about saving Thunderbird emails. By now the lappy's somewhere in Fremont (East Bay Area) where the harddisk is being replaced and a new CD driver being installed.

I'm thinking of renaming it GOB. I mean, it's not going to be Apollo because it's not a new laptop. But, "I've made a huge mistake," seems to sum up this one's pitiful existence. Anyway, while in the past week-ish I've been keeping up surprisingly well with (and commenting randomly on) my FList with this shitty family Mac -- despite the unexpected sudden busy-ness of my life -- I will not be able to from tomorrow through Sunday night. (Oh crap. I won't be able to watch next week's BSG until Sunday! Nooooo! /Vader)

So, this marks part deux of my mini-hiatus. The silent part. I expect to be informed of everything I missed come Sunday night. ;)

[Random, for anyone who will get it: I was having Thoughts yesterday in the shower -- oh yes, with capitals -- and realized that Paul Bettany would fit Thom in my not-at-all-age-accurate casting of Tamora Pierce's Song of the Lioness quartet. hecatehatesthat, ladyjessamyn, thoughts? AND. The real kicker, which almost made me shout when I thought of it: Jamie Bamber as Jon. Not "a British, butch-er version of Jake Gyllenhaal" like I used to say, but JAMIE BAMBER.]

tahoe, jake gyllenhaal, battlestar galactica, song of the lioness, yossarian acts up, paul motherfucking bettany
