• Is it so terribly wrong that I really don't like the song Ghost of A Shark? It just reminds me of one of those sappy ballads. Or something. Can't really describe it.

• I just realized a really backwards habit. Upon becoming cold on fall days like this, I hop into the hot tub and soak for a half an hour. Then I get out, change into a strappy tank and boxer shorts and walk around like that until I become cold again. I think I'm just subconsciously trying to pretend it's summer.

• Upon making this icon [the first of a Flooded set that I'm working on], I found this cap. It's rather amusing.

• There's a Placebo show at Slim's tonight that I'm missing. :(

• No new AtS until January. This, I believe, is worse than last year's gigantic gap between Apocalypse, Nowish [or, if you're the WB -- Rain of Fire] and Habeus Corpses. But then again, at least there isn't a gigantic cliffhanger.

• ALIAS -- Breaking Point:
Wow. First thought is "Ow," second is "Jack is so bad-ass," third is "Lauren! I love you even more now," fourth is "That's the same crazy guy from Identity," and fifth is "Sark?"

I guess I should describe my adventures in acquiring not two but three Tom McRae albums over the past month. I believe I wrote about the Saturday when I went to Virgin Records and there were two empty spaces saying "Tom McRae," one in the Rock/Pop and the other in Imports. Well, two weekends ago, I went into SF for my class at A.C.T., tired as all hell. While I'm walking towards "M" in Rock/Pop, this talent scout stops me and asks me if I had an agent. I just kinda stared at him blankly. I finally remembered to respond and said, "No." He then asked me if I was interested in modeling. And I actually said yes.

Now, this is the same Eve who hangs up on, laughing hysterically at John Robert Powers and other such scam "talent schools" when they call. Which is often. But I figured, hey. This is an actual agency. And I need a job. Badly. So I took his card, thanked him and proceeded to find the blank space in Rock/Pop labeled "Tom McRae". Then...time for Imports. And I found three precious copies of Just Like Blood. Cue squee, right? No. I pick out a copy, walk to the register, realize that it is $23.99 plus tax, and gosh-darnit, I only have $20 due to the lunch, gum and massive GQ [men of the year issue with Colin Farrell's gigantic face on the front and articles on Eddie Izzard, Adrien Brody and every other cool thing in the universe, very much worth it] I just purchased. I pout all the way back home. But then...BUT THEN!!! That night I'm with my friends Clark and Nels. Nels says, "Hey! Let's stop by Borders before we go to Double Rainbow [ice cream]! I need to pick up some Elliott Smith." So we did, and I half-heartedly searched for the Tom while we were there. Neither of us lucked out. And as we were moping, I unconsciously rested my hand on a copy of Tom McRae that had been placed in the wrong section. For $13.99. Complete with a free sampler to give your friends. Scha-wing!

Then last Saturday, the 15th, I met up with Isa at Virgin Records after my class. We looked there for a while, and sure enough the three copies of JLB were still there in Imports. Still $23.99. I had plenty of money with me, wavered on buying it, but since we were going to the Haight [there lies Amoeba, haven of low-priced and hard to find music] I figured I'd wait. We get to Amoeba, I look in the Used Rock [always cheaper] section. No dice. But then, I look in the Rock section and there's a FREAKING SPECIAL on him. Billions of copies of Tom McRae, Just Like Blood, and the Karaoke Soul single. Well, probably around fifteen of each, but still. I was awestruck. So I purchased JLB and the single for $9 and $4, respectively.

The single includes Black Heart Rodeo and Precious Cargo and a whole Enhanced CD fun-ness thing. Like live footage of You Only Disappear and Karaoke Soul vid footage. ::sigh::

Oh, and this past Saturday, I unconsciously spent too much of the little change that I had on coffee cake, lunch, gum and the Gay! issue of Vanity Fair. So I was a dollar short for the bus. I was scared I'd have to bum money off some bums. I freaked out for the whole 45 minutes I had to wait for the bus, and then ended up just paying the driver what I had. He didn't notice. Heh.

• That LJ cut is mostly for my own memories.

• Is Johnny Depp on the cover of People? Was he voted Sexiest Man Alive? I've been hearing half of the story. I am confused!

• I was in a hurry and I dropped my CD player in the garage. It popped open and Just Like Blood rolled out and wedged itself under the wheel of Dadmac's car. Good side down. Now it skips at 4:10 in Mermaid Blues. Gah.

• I read Entertainment Weekly's The 50 Greatest Tearjerkers of All Time special and almost started crying.
