Sam got into Ruby’s car and said, “I’m in.”
“What made you change your mind,” Ruby asked, a little bit puzzled.
“Many things,” Sam said, turning his head towards the window.
“Oh, I see.” She could Sam wasn’t in one of his most talkative moods.
Ruby drove off, concentrating on where they were going. Sam didn’t really say much at all. He was completely distracted.
“Even though, he says he’s in, I know he must be having second thoughts,” she pondered.
What really was bothering Sam the most, was all the hiding everything from his brother. He wanted to tell Dean what he really was doing but he knew how Dean would react, most likely tearing into him.
He could already feel the disapproval coming from him at times especially when he mentioned using his powers or Ruby. He closed his eyes and sighed.
“I hate having to keep all of this a secret,” he muttered under his breath.
“Well, Sam, maybe it’s for the best,” Ruby added.
Sam looked her straight in the eyes. “No, it’s not!” he replied adamantly.
“It feels like every time I talk to Dean, I have to be so careful with my words. I have to watch what I say to him. We never used to be that way.”
“Are you certain about that, Sam? I’m sure you have hidden other things from him.”
Sam narrowed his eyes at her. “Yeah, I have. Sometimes, it’s better when people don’t know the whole story.”
Ruby could tell by his tone, she was hitting a sore spot with him. It was time to back off.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to get you upset.”
Sam rolled his eyes. “Oh please, you said that on purpose. I have to wonder what your agenda really is, Ruby?”
“Agenda?”
“Yeah, what are you really to get out of killing Lilith? I have this feeling in my gut that you’re hiding things from me.”
She was caught off guard by his comment.
“Sam, I want the same thing you want; to prevent the apocalypse. That’s all.” She said reassuring him.
“If you say so,” he shot back.
Ruby didn’t like hearing this doubt from him. It worried her a lot.
