"Project Basement" is now officially underway!

Over the weekend we took the first steps to finishing our basement - thanks in a huge part to Scott who showed us what we needed to buy for the project!   We went to hardware stores (Lowes, Home Depot, then back to Lowes) and ordered/purchased pretty much everything we need except the flooring.  It was a gigantic shopping.  I never want to spend 4 hours in various hardware stores again. Thank god that money is now out of my checking account so now I can't spend it on stupid shit.  :P

As soon as Adam and I get our act together and clean out a lot of the trash/storage down there, we're going to have a "Demolition Party" - where we have friends over and tear down a wall... and then build another wall.... all in exchange for PIZZA AND BEER!   :P  What a deal!

I don't know if this too ambitious of an estimate, but I would LOVE to be done with this monster by the end of summer.  We shall see what develops.

When it's finished it's going to be one large living/gaming space - with tiled ceilings, prettily panelled walls, and nice soft carpeting.   We plan to set up a pool table area, and also a nice large wooden table with 6-8 chairs for game night.   We also are going to create another home theater area down there (with another large TV and sectional)... And I'll finally have a space to put down my professional-grade DDR setup!  We will probably upgrade to a 72 inch TV for the upstairs and then move the 62 incher down there.  We'll see how spendthrifty and extravagant we feel this summer.  I'm also toying around with getting a small stand-alone bar for down there, but we'll see how much room we have once all that other stuff is down there.

I'm also backstocked on artwork that I need to have framed (with no wall space left upstairs), so we should have plenty of cool stuff with which to decorate the walls down there.

All in all I'm very excited.  It's really going to open up the living space we have so our house doesn't feel so cramped.   Also, during Adam's game nights when I get home I won't feel like a prisioner in my own home, but will have my own floor to myself.  Yays!
