Surprising news
Tonight for our Monday dinner out, before J and D and DG headed off to play Magic, we were joined by our friend JC, who is visiting with his family; they showed up just before we left as well. They now live in Iowa but are here for about a week, and we'll see them more tomorrow.
I asked D if he'd ever finally gotten together with his dad to celebrate his dad's birthday, and he had surprising news - his dad has bought a house in the small town where he grew up, six hours away from here, and plans to move there next year! Will he sell his business? We don't know much more than that, except that his best friend will be his roommate, and he'll be living about 10 minutes from his sister, so he'll presumably have a more stable and entertaining social life than he has here. It sounds like he'll be keeping his house in Springfield, so he could always move back if he's not happy there. Let's see, and he'll have a fenced backyard, with a way that his dogs can go in and out through a sliding door in his bedroom. I think that's all D had to say about it, except that he's been planning something like this for a while. I can't imagine moving to a different state from my sons, and he's always, always told me how much he dislikes that town, so we'll see.
