I need to get another hour of studying in tonight. I'm going to avoid it for a little bit by doing this survey.
1. What did you do in 2004 that you'd never done before?
voted, lived on my own, gotten in actual trouble
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't think I had any, and if I make any for this year I will probably break them
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Alex's mom is the closest I think
4. Did anyone close to you die?
not that I was personally close to, even though I felt touched by them. we had a couple close calls with my grandparents though, brain surgery and an aneurism the size of a softball... man, they're two tough people
5. What countries did you visit?
France!
6. What would you like to have in 2005 that you lacked in 2004?
a job, a boyfriend, a true sense of home
7. What date from 2004 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
july 6th and july 17th, two of the worst days of my life, they need to explination
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
graduating with high honors, making what i feel is a successful transition into college
9. What was your biggest failure?
having horrible judgement on a couple occasions
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
not really
11. What was the best thing you bought?
my phone or my computer
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
there are lots of people that took very good care of me
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
my own at some points, i can't really think of anyone specificlly right now
14. Where did most of your money go?
food and clothes
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
France, that was amazing, patriots, coming to school, i tend to get really, really, really excited everytime i come home from school, 4 times this semester, is that a lot?
16. What song will always remind you of 2004?
Both Sides Now by Joni Mitchell, Caring is Creepy by the Shins, lots of stuff by The Postal Service and Usher
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? happier in what I'm doing with my life, sadder in that I'm less satisfied with myself and that I'm lonelier
ii. thinner or fatter? fatter, but this is a mean question to ask poor freshman college girls
iii. richer or poorer? Poorer
18. What do you wish you'd done more?
consciously try to be a better person, be genuine and kind, sad thank you to my parents
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
smoking weed, worrying about insignificant things
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
christmas eve at my house, christmas day i'll be on a plane to orlando
21. Did you fall in love in 2004?
no
22. How many one-night stands?
non
23. What was your favorite TV program?
real world, oc, the apprentice, er, west wing, sex in the city (oh, how addicting it is)
24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
not really, i've kind of moved on from a lot of the negative feelings i had for people in highschool (woo hoo for me maturing), I dunno, I guess there's people I respect less, but not that I hate
25. What was the best book you read?
probably The Crying of Lot 49 by Thomas Pynchon
26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
The Shins, The Postal Service (was that this year??), The Sounds, Better Than Ezra, Iron and Wine, The Exchange and a re-discovery in Joni Mitchell, Carole King and Janis Joplin that has changed my life
27. What did you want and get?
I wanted to be happy at school and I am, more of a realization of what's important in life
28. What was your favorite film of this year?
That's really hard... I finally saw A Streetcar Named Desire, but I guess that doesn't count, Garden State probably
29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was 18. I don't really remember what I did. That's really sad. Someone please tell me what I did on my birthday.
30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
not making the couple big mistakes that I did, finding a guy here, yes I know, pathetic, pathetic, but it's hard
31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2004?
I have no idea, the girls here claim I have my own style, but I guess they aren't used to girls who just wear track jackets and etnies all the time?
32. What kept you sane?
MY MOM, probably my cousin since she was always a refreshing piece of something very close to home
33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Adam Brody, John Kerry if we think of fancy in a very I'm not attracted to him he just made up an important part of my year way
34. What political issue stirred you the most?
the election, all of you in other places (except for those in mass probably) have no idea how emotionally effected our whole campus was after that defeat
35. Who did you miss?
my girlfriends, my family, people that don't call the drinking fountain a bubbler
36. Who was the best new person you met?
the girls in my wing- especially kate, chelsea, liz, and other kate
37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2004:
that everyone makes mistakes, and we just have to pay for those mistakes and move on as best we- learning from them and not dwelling on them
