Back at work after 5 1/2 days off.  I know I'd get bored if I was independently wealthy and didn't have to work, but... you know, I'd love the chance to prove myself wrong. :)

The last two weeks of my life have been sucked up by the Olympics.  I did come out on the other side with a nice knitted shawl, though. ;)

My officemate brought her son into work for a few hours.  He's 11.  They just left to get some ice cream.

Son is a big Warcraft fan.  I get back from lunch and find him at my desk perusing my WoW page-a-day calendar.  We talk about WoW for a few mintues, then he goes back to his crossword puzzle.  He asks his mom for help, she gives him the answer, ( Read more... )

As background, I manage the medical journal that my department runs.  It's a small journal, I'm the only staff person, and I don't even work on the project full time.

Our most recent issue came out on Monday, and there was an unfortunate typo on the cover.  It was supposed to say "May 2008, Volume 3".  Instead it said "January 2008, Volume 3".  ( Read more... )

I got bit on the ass by the universe today.

Today was another recruitment day at work, and I was on "early duty."  This means I try to get to my office around 6:45 am for 15 quality minutes of emailing, and then make the 10 minute walk over to where our applicants gather for breakfast.  Five of us trade off this duty (with two working each day), so ( Read more... )
