Update on Evangeline
Hi, this is heidiweidel, and Evangeline asked me to post this little update about her so anyone who hasn't heard will know that she is safe and well despite being a Hurricane Katrina victim. By "victim" I should say that she evacuated safely, but that her home was destroyed by the floodwaters since she lived in St. Bernard Parish just outside New Orleans itself. She's living in a small community north of Baton Rouge in a relative's vacation home, so she's been comfortably housed and her family is all with her. She found a job there at the local library and her husband is back at his job, although it's a long commute. I have several updates about her on my own lj, so if you'd like to read more, including some excerpts from some conversations I've had with her, you can go over there. She is so grateful for all the inquiries that people have been making as to her wellbeing and plans to try to return to the lj community some time in January if all goes well. She only has internet access at the library, so can't spend too much time online for her own purposes. Thanks for your concern! heidiweidel
