Metropolitan Community Church of Portland is a progressive community of faith welcoming all people (provided you donate a lot of money), with special outreach to the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender communities (Did we leave your preference out? Write us!). We strive to let all know how much they are loved by their Creator! (Creator? Sounds important) We are located at 2400 NE Broadway in Portland. (Oregon, eh? Who would have thought?) The Elevation Service (very catchy name -- but I think U2 wants it back), 6:00PM Sunday evenings, is a rock-driven service for the young at heart (we like 'em young). We play both Christian and some secular songs (Oh, you've got both kinds? Country AND Western?) what you'd hear maybe on 104.1FM, and the service takes a fun and interesting approach to learning about God and our lives with God ("Fun" & "God" in the same sentence? How do they do it?). WE NEED MUSICIANS! (To do what with?) We currently have rhythm guitar and drums, and four vocalists. (Only four vocalists? I think you'll need at least 4 more) We need a keyboard player, bass player and lead guitarist. This is a non-paying gig, (don't worry, you had me at "hello") but is a very very fun way to indulge in musical worship! By the way, you do NOT need to be gay to participate. (But it sure helps if you want to survive this nightmare) This is for all people who wish to worship! (I don't!) We rehearse the 2nd and 4th Tuesday evening of every month (I cannot even begin to figure out what nights that means I should show up. Could you make the schedule any more confusing?), as well as time before each service (Now you're getting pushy. Gay people don't need to practice, they're already very good at it). Please let me know if you're interested by dropping me an email. (You've got mail!) Thank you, and God bless! (I didn't sneeze, but thanks)
