One of the "secret projects" I've been working on has finally been announced: a Beasts of Burden/Hellboy crossover one-shot from Dark Horse.
My script, Jill's art, Mike Mignola's signature character and blessing (and a second cover, I believe). You can read the announcement and an interview about the project with editor Scott Allie, Jill and myself
here at Comic Book Resources. There's also a nice Jill Thompson painting of all the characters to look at.
As far as the story goes, all I'll say is that it's basically Beasts of Burden #5 for all intents and purposes, guest-starring Hellboy. We're going to deal with things in Burden Hill, continue what we're doing, with Hellboy stepping in to lend our still wet-behind-the-ears paranormal investigators a hand. A big, red, stone hand of doom, baby.
It isn't scheduled yet, but it will be out this year. I can't help but wish we had more than 22 pages to do this up right and epic, but we'll try to make every single page good, creepy fun.
And yeah, I'm a goddamned nervous wreck working on this.
But, Boom, man. Boom and hot damn.
