I remember my dad taking my Quadraphenia album (The Who) and breaking it over his knees. Many years later, my son's dad tried the same thing to his POD album.
Yes, I know most of the people there but most of them I would just pass on the street and not say hi, but on farcebook, we are supposed to be good friends because you sent me boozemail.
What a great first concert! Mine was Hall & Oates when I was 14.
I caught the Aquabats a couple years back when they were touring the Charge!! album. Great fun, one of the best shows I've ever seen. Glad to see they're still keeping it going while Yo Gabba Gabba! is rolling along.
I distinctly remember the audience being very cool towards Nick Lowe. Opening acts usually suck, but c'mon, Nick Lowe didn't suck and doesn't suck. He was really good, too. Paul Carrack(sp) from Squeeze while Jools Holland was off doing whatever (iirc) was in his band then and they played Tempted, so, nice bonus there.
None of my friends paid any attention. That doesn't make me better than them. It just makes me a Nick Lowe fan. Still love that Rockpile album, too.
Several WFMU deejays have been playing stuff off his new album lately. Mellow, well-written, Nick Lowe-y. I liked what I heard so far.
