Okay, first off. WHY THE HELL DID WE NOT HEAR KOYUKI SING!? I AM SO PISSED OFF ABOUT THAT!
Is his singing so divine that only angels can hear? So, amazing that only dogs can hear? Seriously. The whole freakin' point is that YOU HEAR HIM SING. I feel so...unprivileged to not be able to hear him sing. You hear everyone else sing! What took the cake was that there were LYRICS when he sang that one song but yet. You. Don't. Hear. Him. Why even put the lyrics then!?
Granted, they probably had their reasons for this. I can only speculate that Sato Takeru can't sing for shit and Japan does not do dubs of live action singing (cuz they totally did so for the anime). Or maybe they wanted to emphasize that Koyuki's singing is that amazing...I don't know. All I do know is that I got over the fact that they didn't put any of the anime songs on there (at least Full Moon Sway, c'mon!), but I just can't get over the silence that is Koyuki's singing.
=___=;
Other than that, the movie was pretty good and fangirl squeal-worthy. It pretty much follows the manga's overall plot of Koyuki discovering a whole new and exciting world of music. A few things were tossed out, like Koyuki and Maho's relationship was a bit glazed over and sadly, not enough of Saitou. And of course a few changes. I dunno why his cockatiel was with Ryuusuke instead, lol. And I think Eddie doesn't die...unless they mentioned it -- I did watch it raw, so I was a bit lost at parts. As a whole, I do feel that they did do the manga justice fairly well. It had the same feeling, undertones and up and down roller coaster feel of a small band just trying to make it big.
One thing I loved was the details. How they actually took the time to recreate certain -- especially tiny, seemingly insignificant ones -- details. Like things from Lucille (obviously important) to their wardrobe (they had your fave "LORITA" shirt,
bluestraggler!). I'm also impressed at how all of the actors really did look like the characters. It didn't extend to only the main cast, the secondary characters hit the spot, too! My faves by far were Kiritani Kenta/Chiba (SO PERFECT) and Nakamura Aoi/Saku. X3 Sato/Koyuki was very adorably awkward though. D'aww. Kutsuna Shiori/Maho was hilarious! I laughed every time her voice would go up several octaves when angry. So violent~ Hahaha. Taira (Mukai Osamu) could've been hotter...Shorter hair...More buff? Idk. And of course, Ryuusuke. Oh Mizushima Hiro. You are HOT. Lol. This was the first time I heard him speak in English and wow, he's not bad at all! Though that minor lisp was cute, except
kikinasai kept on laughing whenever he spoke so then I started laughing. XD;
AND THEIR EXPRESSIONS. LOL. I loved how they were so animated, but not to the point of being too horribly cheesy. Gaaah. ♥
All in all, it was awesome seeing one of my fave series come to life even if it had a few disappointments. It was so cool seeing them come together and actually look/act like a band on stage!
I really should go back and reread the entire manga now that it's done. I hope I can find it in its entirety online somewhere...
